Gryt 1.15.0-beta.8
BetaBeta: no more message password, your 24 words as a file or a code, and old messages can come back.
Chat
- New
When someone's key changes and you've checked it's really them, you can send them your copy of your conversation. Their app shows those messages as shared by you.
- Changed
A changed key on someone's card now has "It's not them" as well, and you can undo trusting a new key.
- Fixed
An encrypted DM where every device that was in it is gone gets started over, so it works again instead of waiting for someone who'll never come back.
Settings & app
- New
Your 24 words can be saved as a file, or shown as a code you scan with the phone when you set it up.
A device you set up from your 24 words can bring your messages over from one of your other devices, under Settings.
- Changed
The message password is gone. Gryt no longer keeps a password-locked copy of your key on your account, since anyone who got hold of the server's database could keep guessing that password. A device that has your key removes the old copy by itself. Your devices and your 24 words are how a new device gets your key now.
New devices are named after the computer they're on, so your device list says "Sivert's MacBook Pro" instead of "Mac".
That’s everything in this release. When something lands that’s worth explaining, there’s a post about it.
