Gryt 1.11.28-beta.1

Beta

Webcams recover without leaving a waiting tile, huge chat pastes become text files, screen shares show when they are starting, and voice recovers more cleanly after a brief disconnect.

Voice & video

Changed

Starting a screen share now shows a loading state, and other people see who is starting a share instead of a generic connecting message. If it still has not arrived after 15 seconds, the tile says whose screen is not coming through.

The video debug overlay shows more bandwidth, sender, candidate-path and RTCP details, making camera and screen-share problems easier to diagnose.

Fixed

A camera could be publishing normally while everyone else stayed on a waiting tile after Gryt reacquired the device. Gryt keeps advertising the WebRTC stream ID the call is actually sending now.

A call recovering from a brief disconnect keeps using the server the call is actually on, even if you are browsing another server, and the server gives reconnecting voice time to reappear before removing it.

Changing microphones while one is still opening no longer lets the old request win, and the native app starts the platform default microphone correctly again.

Chat

Fixed

Pasting more than 4,000 characters into chat could freeze or crash the client before you could remove it. Gryt keeps the paste out of the editor and attaches the full text as pasted-text.txt instead.

Settings & app

Fixed

Tall dialogs stay inside a short browser window and scroll vertically instead of putting controls outside the viewport.

Nobody wrote this one up, so the list above is all of it. When something lands that’s worth explaining there’s a post about it instead.
